I remember reading a blog from a music photographer a while back that referred to the artist-to-artist energy felt when photographing live bands. Basically he connected with the performance and the photographs came naturally – essentially a visual representation of his experience.
When asked to photograph a belly dancing performance, I immediately knew how I wanted to shoot it. However, one of the many wonderful things about photographing an artist is you invariable get more than you bargained for – and this was no exception. It was wonderful to have the intense energy of the amazing dance guide the creation of the photographs. And the shots most certainly came naturally.
